The Australian Education Times
The founders of the I Can Read System were pleased to be invited to the launch of Australia’s first free magazine on education at Parliament House in Sydney, 23rd October 2013. The Australian Education Times is all about education in Australia. The Education Times will be published monthly and promises to deliver up-to-date information, news, views, insights and forums which address current educational trends, developments and practices. It intends to be a highly relevant source for those who require an insight into all aspects of education; its aim is to “bridge the gap between educators, parents, teachers, students, politicians and members of educational communities”.
Parliament House was an ideal setting for launching the first edition of the Australian Education Times. Education is always high on the political agenda and in the forefront of many people’s thoughts: parents, students, teachers, politicians and those in the wider community whose contribution to education is seen through their untiring work in support of schools and colleges. The Education Times will feature regular articles on literacy development in its Literacy Corner.
The unveiling of the front cover by NSW Shadow Education Minister Carmel Tebbutt took place following speeches by the Honourable Carmel Tebbutt MP, Geoff Lee, MP Parramatta and closing words by Ms Michelle Rowland, MP Federal. It’s about time the public had access to relevant educational information and debates focusing on learning to read, early entry and teacher accountability to name just a few. Annabel Seargeant was pleased to chat with guests about literacy and the magazine’s future.
